Look…there he is
Yes I’m still alive. No my computer’s not busted. For some reason I have not had anything that I have felt blog-worthy about in a couple weeks. There are things going on…like, I got to play with the band at the new church for a combined service last Sunday and it rocked. The musicians in the new band are pretty phenomenal. A sax player in particular, he and I trade solos. We did David Crowder’s rendition of Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee and freakin’ rocked the house. So there’s something that’s happened.
Then last weekend I went up to visit my buddy Eric and to have "Game Night". Game night is where a bunch of guys get together, mostly Eric’s friends from his previous employer and we play multiplayer computer games. I know you think that sounds like loads of fun, but it really is. We split up into teams and everybody’s in the same room and you can see the rest of your "team" as you’re playing through the game. We order pizza and get all hopped up on Cherry Coke and play a shoot-em-up game till about 3:00am. Loads of fun I tell you. Yes I’m an uber-geek.

The only thing worth mentioning right now is John Mayer’s new album "Continuum". I picked up this album the other day and have really enjoyed it. I’ve really liked all of his stuff that he’s put out so far. Being a guitar player I find his music to be a fairly fresh approach to playing and his song content is clever. I have to say I go back and forth between being jealous of Mr. Mayer and just enjoying the music. Yeah I know, ain’t that stupid, but hey…with a few different choices in life, it might not be so far from where I’d be. I’d like to dream anyway. Maybe he’d be jealous of me…a beautiful wife who loves me, a great house, great family and friends. Yeah, maybe that’s it, he’d be jealous of me. Wait…didn’t he just start dating Jessica Simpson? Ok, maybe not so jealous of me.

yo dawg- i too envy/admire mayer. i really enjoyed his stuff and then the venture this past year with the trio was beyond ridiculous good. i’ve been listening to some of the old stuff at work the past couple of weeks and it is hard to enjoy it as much as the trio album. i’m amazed at his ability to excel in different genres. jon mayer and bluegrass…i can hear now. the demos sound good by the way. peace.
Thanks for the kind words Russell. Hope all is well there with you!
