My only political post

March 19th, 2008 Jonathan Payne 6 comments

This will be the only political post you see on this blog.  Los posted about a coworker prank on his blog and it raised a question for me.  I’m tempted by Obama, I like all the "change" talk.  However, I don’t agree with his position on abortion and to me that’s a deal-killer.  There are a lot of people that I respect that have similar religious views as I do, but are supporting Obama.  So I’m asking, how do you get past his stance on abortion if you feel that abortion is wrong?

Here comes the downpour

Okay sometimes I’m late when it comes to stuff on Youtube. For some reason I just don’t surf there that much and the only time I find something good is when it’s linked by someone else. Case in point, thanks TerribleSpeller for leading me to the deliciousness of Chocolate Rain and consequently Cherry Chocolate Rain by Tay Zonday.

When i compose a song I typically try to introduce a varied structure. Say something like:

Verse
Lift
Chorus
Verse
Bridge
Turn
Lift
Chorus
Outro
Something like that

As the video below shows…I don’t need to worry about that. Just a full five minutes of “Chocolate Rain” does the trick. As demonstrated by the follow up video promoting Dr. Pepper. Video embedded below for those on RSS

This guy shows that lip gloss and a catchy lyric can take you from nerd to nashty over night. I’m hooked to…. Cho-c’late Rain….. Cherry Choclate Rain….

You too can be a spy, or not.

LockpickingWell with the release of Casino Royale, and with my recent reading of spy novels written by Daniel Sylva, I thought this was right on the money.  Admit it, if you can pick a lock like a real spy, you’re a freakin stud.  This is something that I definitely want to try to learn.  Here’s a full How-To on Lockpicking, courtesy of Locksport.com.

How to pick a lock.

Give us the free!!

Us_and_south_african_flagAnd the marriage of two countries is complete.  My wife, as of Monday afternoon about 4:30pm is an American citizen…as well as a South African citizen.  We’re still trying to figure out the benefits of actually becoming an American citizen.  I think it all boils down to what box you’re able to check on some of those financial institution forms.  Well, along with not having to file for a travel visa when you want to visit another country from the US besides heading back to SA.  That make sense?   I think that’s about it.  However, she can sing a smokin’ Star Spangled Banner, complete with "Play Ball!".  The day was made up of about 3 hours of waiting, 10 minutes of an interview and another hour or so listening to a freakin’ tortuous ceremony.  It was painful, believe me.

I’m so proud of my woman though, she really has toughed this thing out over the years.  I mean, she never even was planning to stay in the US until we got engaged.  Now how wrong is that?  We’d been dating for about a year and she was still planning on heading back to SA, without me if it came to it.  How’s that for stringing a brutha along?!  Well it didn’t work out that way, and I’d like to say we’re both glad.

So it’s behind us and I thought I’d update all of the 4 people who are reading my blog.  If I didn’t tell you over the phone…now you know!!

Hey, all those with blogs…how ’bout some link love?  Begging
